Arabic has around 300 million native speakers. It ranks in the top ten most widely spoken languages in the world, is the official language of nearly twenty countries, and is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. Classical Arabic is also the liturgical language of Islam. The Arabic dialect that we teach in our center is Levantine Arabic, sometimes called Eastern Arabic. It is one of the dialects spoken in the Mediterranean Levant, including the western part of Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, and Jordan.
